TORONTO, Ontario – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, getting his first shot of vaccine ear;oer this April, and that is good. But what about all of the mostly younger grocery store workers, taking a chance in every day? And what about paid sick days for these brave front-line workers, or a return to COVID-19 bonus pay Apparently that is too much for Ford to ask of his billionaire corporate pals in the retail industry. You sure wouldn’t want to ask the Weston family (owners or Loblaws/Zehrs, Shopper Drug Mart, etc.) to do a little more to reward their front-line workers.

Ontario Liberals are calling on Conservative MPPs to finally stand with essential workers and against their anti-science Premier, and pass our bill before Doug Ford runs and hides from the outrage he caused.
For over a year, Ontario Liberals have stood with doctors, other opposition parties, and virtually everyone else to demand paid sick leave. It was, after all, Ontario Liberals who brought in paid sick leave in the first place before Doug Ford cut it in 2018. That’s because we know how important protection is for workers.
