QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario NDP Shadow Minister for Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Catherine Fife (Waterloo); and Shadow Minister for Finance and Treasury Board Jessica Bell (University—Rosedale) are calling on the Ford government to create a plan to protect Ontarian jobs, as August saw 18,000 jobs lost in Ontario and the unemployment rate climbed to 6.9 per cent.
“Ontario’s unemployment rate has climbed to 6.9 per cent,” said Fife. “These numbers show that Doug Ford’s economic plan is not delivering for working people. Blaming global uncertainty isn’t a strategy to protect Ontarian jobs.
“Ontario has the talent and resources to build one of the greatest economies in the world economy, but we need a government with an actual plan to invest in people, rather than luxury hotel suites, to give families a real chance to get ahead.”

“The Ford government has spent years promising a strong economy, but his record shows he’s a job disaster.
