Lincoln, ON – The Town of Lincoln has formally terminated the State of Emergency declared in response to the significant flooding that affected the community in August.
The decision reflects the Town’s transition from the immediate emergency response phase to ongoing recovery efforts. While the State of Emergency has ended, the Town recognizes that recovery will take time and significant work remains to support residents, businesses and the broader community.
The State of Emergency was declared on August 3 under the /Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act/ following an extraordinary rainfall event that overwhelmed roads, stormwater infrastructure, homes, businesses and municipal services.
The impacts of the storm were further compounded by widespread power outages, which created additional challenges for residents, businesses and municipal infrastructure.
Since then, Town staff, emergency responders, community organizations, volunteers, contractors and partner agencies have worked together to support the community and respond to immediate needs.
Recovery efforts and emergency repairs will continue in the weeks and months ahead, including support for affected residents, coordination of available cleanup and recovery resources, damage assessments and documentation, municipal infrastructure repairs, and other activities to support the community’s recovery.
At the same time, the Town is ending the Significant Weather Event which was declared on August 2, 2026, signaling that normal Operations have resumed for the Town.
*What does this mean for residents?*
The end of the State of Emergency does not mean that recovery efforts are over. The Town remains committed to supporting residents and the community as recovery continues. Residents affected by the flooding can continue to access available municipal services and supports.
The Town will continue to:
- * Support residents as they navigate the recovery process;
- * Coordinate available cleanup and recovery resources;
- * Assess and document flood impacts and damages;
- * Advance repairs to municipal infrastructure and drainage systems;
- * Work with provincial, regional and community partners on recovery initiatives; and
- * Provide information and updates as recovery activities progress.
The Town also continues to advocate for provincial assistance and work with the Province and community partners to identify available supports for those affected by the flooding.
