Ontario NDP MPP Wayne Gates for a Niagara Falls Riding that includes Fort Erie and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Fort Erie, Ontario – As the Fort Erie race track opens its doors for the first day of the season, Ontario NDP Niagara Falls candidate Wayne Gates demanded Doug Ford explain why his own star candidate shut down the Slots at Racetrack program, resulting in the loss of hundreds of jobs at the Fort Erie, Windsor and Sarnia racetracks, and long-term damage to the region’s economies.
Rod Phillips is now a star candidate for Doug Ford. In 2012, Phillips was CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and made the call to demolish the Slots at Racetrack program.
“After what he did to working people and their families in this region, Rod Phillips should be ashamed,” said NDP Candidate Wayne Gates. “But Doug Ford apparently agrees with Phillips and his terrible decision to scrap the Slots at Racetracks – because Ford handpicked him to be a star candidate for the Conservatives.
