Ford and Company Are Now Hoping For Another Legal Win Over Their Equally Controversial Plans to Build a New Super Highway Thru Ontario’s Greenbelt
A News Release from Ontario’s Ford Government

But First, A Brief Foreword by Doug Draper at Niagara At Large –

A mid-20th Century Neanderthal’s Vision of Ontario’s future, with less than a wit of concern for the climate crises or the value of food-growing lands and a healthy ecosystem.
Short of throwing Doug Ford and his Conservative Party minions out of office in the next provincial election, there doesn’t seem to be any end to this Ford government’s drive to deconstruct and privatize iconic public places like Ontario Place, and to take us back to the 1950s with unbridled urban sprawl and more construction of super highways to accomodate ever more cars.
As has already been shown through the controversy over Ford and his gang attempting to carve up our Greenbelt for developers, there are large numbers of residents across the province – both rural and urban – who want to see our precious green lands protected for present and future generations.
There are also many who want to save the Ontario Place generations of people have enjoyed now for the last 50 or so years.
But Doug Ford? He and his buddies respond almost every time by giving us their fingers, and only back down when their fingers are about to being burned.
So I am going to continue repeating something I have said before until the next provincial election which, unfortunately, is more than two years away. We have got to get rid of Ford and everyone on his Tory team that enables the damage and destruction he is doing to valuable pieces of our heritage.

Ontario Achieves Legal Certainty to Move Forward with Ontario Place, Calls for Additional Clarity for Highway 413
*December 11, 2023*

It appears that the Ford government is more interested in wasting taxpayer’s time privatizing the lands of Ontario Place, and in privatizing land to build a spay for the rich and privileged than he is in preservice this iconic place for we, the people.
TORONTO — Today (this December 11th, Doug Downey, Attorney General of Ontario, issued the following statement:
“Following the federal government’s decision that it is not conducting an impact assessment of Ontario Place under its unconstitutional /Impact Assessment Act/, I am urging them to similarly get out of the way so that our government can get shovels in the ground on Highway 413.
Until the federal government provides the certainty we need by acknowledging that its unconstitutional legislation doesn’t apply to this vital infrastructure project, Ontario will continue to move forward with our judicial review of Highway 413. As we do, we will also continue to follow our world-leading environmental assessment processes and respect our duty to consult obligations.
As Ontario continues to grow at unprecedented speed, we need to build the infrastructure required to keep pace with our historic growth.
It has never been more important to build roads, bridges, highways and public transit to connect our communities and tackle gridlock.
Now is the time for the federal government to work with provinces to move critical projects forward, including Highway 413, so we can continue to build a stronger and more connected Ontario.”
