Ford Is Moving This Long-Time Government Service to a U.S.-Based, Privately-Operated  Retail Chain

“Welland residents who reached out to my office are worried that these changes will lead to additional delays and longer wait times for back government services like health cards and driver licenses.”– Jeff Burch, Niagara Centre NDP MPP in a letter to Ontario Premier Doug Ford

A News Release from the Constituencey Office of Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch

Posted January 15th, 2024 on Niagara At Large

WELLAND, Ontario – Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch has written a letter to Doug Ford following reports that 11 ServiceOntario locations are set to close across the province, including one in Welland.

The ServiceOntario locations are set to be replaced with kiosks in privately-owned Staples – the latest in Ford’s pattern of putting government services in the hands of private companies.
