In a story that has gone viral around the world, two amazing geese – Frankie and Blossom – get a second chance at love.
The feeling I get from the communication I do with people out there and around me is that many of us – not just a few – are at least a bit in the dumps, mentally and physically, after three years of COVID-19 and all of the troubling news here, there and around the world that continues to swamp us.
If you fall into that group, I must admit that I am with you.
So when I nice story that tugs at our hearts in the best of ways comes along, why not embrace it.
One such story was reported this past March 6th, 2023 on CBC Radio’s program As It Happens about two geese – named Frankie and Blossom – who lost their partners who found a second chance at love with each other in a small town in the mid-western U.S. state of Iowa.

Now together, Frankie and Blossom.
My wife Mary and I listened to it and it hit the sweet spot for us, and I hope it does for you too.
Here is the CBC link to the story, which include a link of its own where you can listen to the story as it was broadcast on As It Happens – https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/geese-love-connection-1.6769807 .
I hope this story was a bit of a lift for you too during these troubling times.

An Arctic wolf named Boo did not need to be gunned down last year in Niagara. For shame.
For me, it was also a reminder of that beautiful white Arctic wolf named Boo that escaped from a pen in the Niagara, Ontario community of Port Colborne and was, in my view, unnecessarily shot last year, and it also reminds me of an emaciated coyote on Niagara Parks lands in Niagara Falls who needed help I don’t believe it got from the SPCA people there.
This story about the geese is one more reminder that the non-human beings we share this planet with are far more amazing and full of feelings than we humans often do not give them credit for, and they deserve our respect and passion to care for their lives.
We are all fortunate enough to share this planet – if only for a little while n instant – together. And we should all treasure the wonder of that.
