If you have been paying any attention to the news, you know about all of the catastrophic, life-threatening droughts, wildfires and floods we are facing again this summer across this continent and the world.

We have municipal elections in Niagara this fall. Please make sure you vote for only those candidates who promise to save what are left of our woodlands, wetlands and food-growing lands,  and who take this climate emergency we are now suffering seriously.

NO MORE URBAN EXPANSIONS AND NO MORE CUTTING ROADS THROUGH WETLANDS AND WOODLANDS. NO MORE BUILDING VANITY CONDOS AND FAKE COMMUNITIES ON CHERISHED NATURAL HERITAGE LANDS LIKE WAVERLY WOODS AND THUNDERING WATERS.

Remember this when you consider who to vote for in this coming municipal election and all future elections – nothing less than the livability of our planet is at stake.

When it comes to urban growth, we desperately need more municipal politicians and more municipal staff involved in planning who truly know what healthy, environmentally and economically sustainable development is.

  1. We do definitely need a new slate of politicians this time around in Niagara. Look at the destruction caused by a few thus far Thundering Waters being turned into yet more casinos, hotels, motels instead of a blessed forest that daily combats climate change naturally at no cost to the taxpayer but Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati wants it. The last of the prime canal land described as pristine naturalized 62 hectares by an agent of the Conservation Authority privately to me is being done in by Welland Mayor Frank Companion and at last count in an agricultural blessed landscape Mayor Kevin Gibson is erecting a 6 million plus dollar fire hall in Wainfleet for a small group of taxpayers to bear, but wait he has alright okayed at around 4 subdivisions.
So I agree with you totally Doug it is time to stop the madness and how that is done elect only those who truly understand the interaction with nature and truly are willing to allow future generations to thrive. Personally fed up with these shortsighted and greed driven politicians now holding office.
