“Bill 5 gives Ford unprecedented control over the province, including the power to exempt individuals and corporations from provincial and municipal laws that protect the environment, consumers, communities and workers.”
A Call-Out from Democracy Watch

Dear Friend,
We hope all is well with you and yours. Unfortunately, all is not well with democracy in Ontario.
Bill 5, which was passed by the Ontario PC Party government last June, is a mad, dictator-like power grab by Premier Doug Ford and his cabinet ministers.
Bill 5 is dangerously undemocratic as it gives Ford’s cabinet unconstitutional, king-like powers to change any law without a review or vote of approval by Ontario’s legislature, and also proposes to prohibit anyone from going to court to challenge Ford’s abuses of power.
Bill 5 gives Ford unprecedented control over the province, including the power to exempt individuals and corporations from provincial and municipal laws that protect the environment, consumers, communities and workers.
Bill 5 allows Premier Ford and his cabinet to designate “special economic zones” in which big businesses would be given the authority to undertake projects without having to comply with provincial and municipal laws.
In these lawless zones, Premier Ford or one of his Cabinet ministers could also approve anyone or any business or organization to do anything they want without having to comply with any law.

Please donate now on this page to support Democracy Watch’s court case, filed in coalition with four other organizations, challenging Bill 5 and to support Democracy Watch’s ongoing campaign for key changes to stop power abuses by the Prime Minister and provincial and territorial premiers.
We need to raise $85,000 to cover the costs of what could be a long court battle to get Bill 5 struck down, and to keep the campaign going for key changes to stop other power abuses. We have raised just over $11,000 so far – your support is needed now to reach our goal.
Doug Ford and his PC Party-connected cronies will fight long and hard to give themselves maximum power to hand out even more boondoggle favours to big business executives and their lobbyists who fundraise and do other favours for Ford’s PC Party, and to waste your money on their pie-in-the-sky pet projects.
Please help Democracy Watch and its coalition partner organizations fight back in court to stop Doug Ford’s mad, dictator-like power grab, and for changes to stop other power abuses.
All together we can make a difference!

Thank you for your support, Democracy Watch
P.S. Even $5-10 a month will help. Please click here now to help keep the Bill 5 court case and campaign going until we win a strong ruling stopping Ford’s mad power grab, and key changes to stop other power abuses!
