A Brief Comment from Doug Draper

How much more will it take before we collectively take this threat to life on this earth seriously? Stop all this blubbering about a “carbon tax”.
Our children’s future is at stake.
If the melting of the ice caps, recording flooding, droughts, wind storms and heatwaves are not enough, check out what is now happening to one of the world’s greatest rainforests –

The Rainforest: Victim of False Economics
The Amazon Rainforest is under catastrophic threat, and fires have burned there far too long unchecked, for the same reason most climate problems and most human problems, for that matter, happen: GREED. We live in a world driven by false economics. False economics says things like, “A recession is two quarters without growth.” Of course, that’s not all. False economics, or to play on a Trumpian phrasing, “Fake economics”, also offers as the ideal, Capitalism. It proffers that wealth works its way down. False. There is no evidence that this actually happens. Indeed, quite the opposite. As we have seen these last few years, the very rich are getting even richer! In fact, just three men together, in the U.S.A. for example (Bill Gates, Jeff Bozos, and Warren Buffet) have as much wealth as the poorest half of all Americans!
That is not to say these are greedy men. On the contrary. They do not, however, represent the majority of the very rich. Nor are they known for extraordinary purchases for personal enjoyment either. It does show a system that is not working for the majority of people. Capitalism is false economy which holds out the hope to the middle class much like gambling does. Like gambling, most are sucked in to gain little and often loose much.
The destruction of the Amazon Rainforest, the obscene growth of Google, Amazon and the like, and the increasing number of homeless in the richest of countries is ample evidence that Capitalism works for the few to the detriment of so very many.
Yes, greed is alive and well in the world, and the earth is dying because of it. When it does die, the rich and the poor will at last be truly equal: equally dead!
