  1. Hello, I’m wondering about the outcome of this meeting! I lived on Phipps Street growing up, and this place always held a fascination with the neighbourhood children. There is also some debate around the validity of the Underground Railroad designation.
I just finished reading “Romance of Niagara” by Charles W. Davies. He claims there was a house on the site of Bertie Hall that was removed before construction started about 1833. The house was moved to where Highland Avenue is now, and it’s still there, 8 Highland Avenue. If this house is about 200 years old or older, shouldn’t it be designated a heritage home by Ontario and/or Niagara Parks Commission?
The architecture is quite similar to that of the old homes in Niagara on the Lake. Surely this little house is worthy of some kind of designation to preserve its history?
    Best regards,
