Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary, St. Catharines
Niagara, Ontario – Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS) is marking its 50th anniversary with a public open house, alumni events, and an ambitious theological conference that examines how people across the globe can talk about their faith and find common ground in a digital world.
The three-day celebrations kick off Monday, October 19, with a free Open House at the seminary (on the Brock University campus) from 9 a.m. to noon. Members of the public can explore the school and associated chapel and library, meet the staff, faculty, and current students, and learn more about the seminary’s 50-year history in Niagara.
The conference will be hosted at the Americana Resort and Spa in Niagara Falls from October 19-21. With a theme of “Respectful Theological Dialogue in the Digital Age,” the conference will draw together internationally recognized speakers from Canada and the United States dedicated to building healthy conversations around faith and life at a time where cultural and international frictions dominate the headlines.

Established in 1976 and located on the campus of Brock University, CLTS trains and educates both pastors and laity here in Canada and around the world. Today, despite being a smaller institution, Concordia has a global reach, with the current student body hailing from Australia, Iran, Korea, China, England, Haiti, and the United States.
Over the years, CLTS also has been a long-time resource for anyone in Niagara looking to further their own faith and education. The seminary regularly offers courses and events open to the public and boasts the largest stand-alone theological library in Niagara, with some books dating back to the 16th century.
“Over our 50-year history, Concordia St. Catharines has transformed itself into a truly global institution,” said seminary president Dr. Thomas Winger. “Through the grace of God we’ve been privileged to interact with students on every continent, all of whom bring their own unique background and experiences to their faith. We’re excited to share this richness of faith, life, and culture with the community both through our anniversary celebrations this fall and through the next 50 years of education.”
The conference will have guests from across Canada and the United States and has garnered international attention. While the conference has already sold out, you can visit concordia-seminary.ca to learn more about Concordia and stay up-to-date on future events.
