All too often when we read or hear about a grizzly bear in the news, it is because the bear reportedly attacked one or more members of our species – often because we encroached on what little is left of their territory or because a mother grizzly was trying to protect her cubs.
Then, of course, the impulsive response from some is to go out and hunt down and kill the bear. It is almost always the bear or any other wild animal that ends up paying the ultimate price in such situations.
That is why it was so good to watch a story that Global TV News aired earlier this month of September about the life and the passing of a much beloved grizzly bear named Grinder at a wildlife sanctuary in Grouse Mountain, British Columbia.
