Premier Doug Ford Says Tariff Would Be Devastating to Canada’s Economy

“A 25 per cent tariff would be devastating to workers and jobs in both Canada and the U.S. The federal government needs to take the situation at our border seriously. We need a Team Canada approach and response—and we need it now. Prime Minister Trudeau must call an urgent meeting with all premiers. – Ontario Premier Doug Ford
A Brief Footnote from Niagara At Large publisher Doug Draper – Over and over again I stressed during the last months of this November’s U.S. presidential election that a Trump win would have terrible consequences for people on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border, and here we go.
So for starters, if Trump follows through on a tariff like this, one of the many concerns is what would it do to car and truck-part producing jobs here in Niagara and surrounding regions since so much around building a a whole car or truck in both country involves cross-border trade.
Next let’s see what Trump does to scuttle efforts to address the climate crisis, which he has openly called a hoax.
