With the reopening of the Urgent Care Centre at the Fort Erie site on Feb. 23, Niagara Region will be ending the temporary transportation service put in place for Fort Erie residents to travel to the Port Colborne Urgent Care Centre as of end of day on Feb. 27.

Niagara Region, working in partnership with Town of Fort Erie and Niagara Health staff, had put in place a transportation option, utilizing a taxi service, for Fort Erie residents to travel to and from the Port Colborne Urgent Care Centre for free if they needed transportation assistance.

Niagara Health temporarily closed the Urgent Care Centre at the Fort Erie Site on Thursday, Jan. 6, in order to redeploy emergency-trained physicians and nurses to Emergency Departments where they are most needed.

Fort Erie residents are being directed to the Port Colborne Urgent Care Centre until Feb. 23 for concerns that cannot wait for a scheduled medical appointment with their family doctor.
