“It’s taken many, many years to get to where we are and I couldn’t be happier with the direction we are going. I am very hopeful the other municipalities will also see the value in one single, integrated transit system for Niagara.” – Fort Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop.

Moving toward one single, seamless public transit system in Niagara
FORT ERIE/Niagara – This Monday, December 6th, Fort Erie Town Council voted unanimously in favour of combining all of Niagara’s existing services into one single, integrated transit commission serving all of Niagara.
Town Council sees the value of a consolidated system in Niagara. A regional system will not only benefit Fort Erie residents and businesses, but also the environment and the overall health and wellness of our community.

Fort Erie, Ontario Mayor Wayne Redekop
“It’s taken many, many years to get to where we are and I couldn’t be happier with the direction we are going. I am very hopeful the other municipalities will also see the value in one single, integrated transit system for Niagara,” said Mayor Wayne Redekop.
Fort Erie was the first municipality scheduled to vote on the proposed consolidated transit plan. On Nov. 25, Regional Council also voted in favour of the plan.
All of Niagara’s 12 local municipalities will have an opportunity to vote on the proposal from December to January.
To move forward with the proposed plan, a majority of Niagara’s municipal councils, representing a majority of Niagara’s electors, must vote in favour of the plan.
A Brief Footnote from Doug Draper at Niagara At Large – If you believe it is long past time that Niagara joined other regions around the province and transform our patch-work of local transit systems into one accessible transit system for everyone in our region, please contact your mayor and local council members and urge them to vote yes for one Niagara Regional transit system.
