Vote for the Candidate and Party in Your Riding That Have the Best Chance of Defeating Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole and his Party of Climate Laggards
A Brief One from Doug Draper

With election day finally upon us, daily tracking polls show the Liberals and Conservatives running neck to neck for first place nationally (each with around 32 percent of the total vote), and the NDP stuck at the same 19 or 20 per cent since election began, in spite of a good race run by a well-liked and highly popular (especially among younger people) Jameet Singh.
In the Niagara Ontario ridings of Niagara Centre and St. Catharines, tracking polls show the horse race between the Liberals and Conservatives is reflective of the national trend, although in the last week or so, Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey and St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle (both Liberal incumbents) have been inching ahead of their Conservative rivals.
It is worth noting that in the Niagara Centre riding, first-time NDP candidate Melissa McGlashan, who put in a good showing at a Cogeco candidates debate a few weeks ago, is also polling well with about 25 per cent of the vote, compared to 30 per cent for the Conservative and 35 per cent for the Liberal as of this September 19th.
In the other two Niagara ridings – Niagara West and Niagara Falls – the Conservative incumbents remain well ahead of the second-place Liberals, with the NDP candidates dragging even further behind.
However, if you are a voter in either of those two ridings who cares about the future of our planet and wants to see the climate crisis addressed, I would still vote for the Liberals and NDP before ever supporting the Conservatives.
At least one glimmer of hope in the tracking polls for the Niagara Falls riding is a recent up-tick in the showing of Liberal candidate Andrea Kaiser in the run against Conservative incumbent Tony Baldinelli. As of this September 19th, numbers show Kaiser around 34 or 35 per cent, with Baldinelli still in the lead with 37.9.
As one last note, it is sad to see how poorly the Green Party is polling nationally and in riding across the country, including here in Niagara. In many cases, the Greens are even polling behind the Trump-like Peoples Party of Canada (PPC).
It is too bad that the federal Greens shot themselves in the head over the past year with nasty fighting over the party leadership. It is especially said for former federal Green Party leader Elizabeth May who worked so hard over the past decade or so building a party that, given climate-related disasters we are facing today, should be polling much better.
