According to a breaking report from CBC News, issued at noon hour this August 12th, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected, as soon as this coming weekend, to call a snap election, with voters going to the polls on September 20th.

So here we apparently go, even as COVID-19 case numbers ramp up across the country due to a highly infectious Delta variant of the virus.

More on this later. In the meantime, what do you think about a federal election now?

  1. No. An election is as silly as thinking we have COVID under control. If the Liberals lose, the replacing party will (probably) spend a lot of money and effort trying to undo Liberal policies and put their own in place, instead of focusing on our most severe problems – the environment and the pandemic with the new variants. If the Liberals win, they will just focus on consolidating power depending on the results of the election.

  2. I’m ready for the election, I knew it was coming but I don’t want it. The government was functioning, we are still in a pandemic and there are more pressing issues for Canadians than an election. British Columbia is burning, there is a terrible drought in the Prairies and economic disparity between the rich and the poor will not be helped by an early election. I hope individuals will vote to have the wealthy pay their fair share so we can introduce green measures successfully to fight climate change and the economic fall out from the pandemic.
