Even as the list of climate-related disasters in Canada has grown, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberals have continued shovelling billions of tax dollars in subsidies and infrastructure work into the ultra-filthy tar sands operations.
Ottawa, Ontario – This science in the IPCC’s report released today makes it clearer than ever that Canada cannot waste time and money on false solutions being pushed by oil and gas companies that sanction more oil and gas production.
Fossil fuel companies are overwhelmingly responsible for the problem in the first place and have spent years misleading the public about climate change and weakening our climate laws.
We are in a climate emergency, and Canadians need our governments to act like it. That means phasing out fossil fuels as quickly as possible, implementing a fair transition for workers and communities, and ramping up clean, cheap, reliable, renewable energy.
