“In order to build a compassionate society and improve the services that matter most, like health and education, we have to take urgent action on a turnaround plan to balance the budget and create jobs,” Hudak told a packed town hall meeting at the launch of his platform. “This is why job creation is the sole focus of the Million Jobs Plan.”

The Million Jobs Plan contains 31 action items focussed on a single priority – creating one million new jobs over the next eight years.  The Million Jobs Plan divides these actions across three themes:

  • A better economy
  • A government we can afford
  • Better health care and education

“Every single one of these policies went through a single lens – does it lead to new and better jobs?” Hudak said.  “We need a million more jobs because too many young people can’t get started on a career and because too many workers have lost their jobs and cannot find work.”

Hudak contrasted his plan’s focus on jobs to McGuinty-Wynne Liberals’ fixation on their own political self- interest.

“Kathleen Wynne wants to be all things to all people.  She will do or say whatever it takes to save the jobs of Liberal politicians,” Hudak said. “I intend to be one thing for all people…the premier of a province with a million more jobs.”

  1. Excuse me!!
“In order to build a compassionate society and improve the services that matter most, like health and education, we have to take urgent action on a turnaround plan to balance the budget and create jobs,”
If Tim Hudak’s compassionate society involves putting nurses, other front-line health-care workers, police, firefighters, etc out of work – I want no part of it!
As a conservative with a social conscience, Tim Hudak is just as frightening to me as Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne!
I have been trying to avoid making too many comments about the bullshit that all three parties are throwing around these days, but Tim Hudak talking about a “compassionate society” just rips me apart.
    What unadultered crap!

The underlying threat to Ontario’s prosperity is government debt.

The solution to government debt problems are the same as for a household: spending must be brought in line with income.

Fortunately, no harsh cuts are needed in Ontario’s case; restraint in the
growth of provincial spending will return the province to financial security.

The solution sounds simple, but the problem is very real. Ontario’s current financial trajectory is unsustainable.

Serious curbs on spending growth may be uncomfortable now, but they will avert the possibility of a much worse budget crunch later on.

Prosperity cannot be bought it must be earned!

  3. The underlying threat to prosperity is paying the rich through further tax cuts of the PC’s or the “crony capitalism” of the Liberal Party so Hudak got half of it right.
