LIGHT AT THE END OF LOST DECADE, SAY ONTARIO PCs

From the Office of Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak

QUEEN’S PARK – October 1, 2013 – While the Liberals will undoubtedly conjure the celebratory illusion that their 10 years in power Wednesday will not mark a lost decade, the Ontario PC Caucus will today shine the light that will lead Ontario out of its economic darkness.

Ontario Conservative Leader Tim Hudak says we in Niagara, Ontario and rest of province have had 10 lost years under the Liberals.

Ontario Conservative Leader Tim Hudak says we in Niagara, Ontario and rest of province have had 10 lost years under the Liberals.

“The way out of this black hole is to face the fact that the debt and deficit under the Liberals are already out of control,” says PC Finance Critic Vic Fedeli. “The reality is that a half million men and women wake up every day without a job to go to. And that’s just wrong.”

“All this has to change, and we will change it,” says Fedeli. “As Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak has said: it won’t be easy, but it can be done, and it will be worth it.”

Today Fedeli and Energy Critic Lisa MacLeod, along with newly-assigned Labour Critic Monte McNaughton, will address the jobs plan that PC Leader Tim Hudak and his team have pinpointed as the keys to economic renewal, including balancing the budget before 2017, dealing with soaring energy costs and job restrictions, and significantly reducing taxes on average Ontarians.

“The reality is that energy costs have skyrocketed to the point that people are afraid to open their monthly electricity bill. This, too, is wrong,” says MacLeod. “We will end subsidies for wind and solar projects, and establish a new rate for manufacturing.

“Let’s face it. When over-the-top electricity costs close down viable businesses and have homeowners quivering when they open their hydro bills, then things have to change.”

For Monte McNaughton, the focus will be on jobs and the workplac

“Under the PC plan, 300,000 advanced manufacturing jobs will be created in Ontario over 4 years,” said McNaughton.

As Fedeli puts it, the Hudak PCs have a plan worth celebrating today.

After 10 years in power tomorrow, the Liberals have nothing to celebrate at all.

(Niagara At Large encourages our readers to join in the discussion and the debate. Do you feel Tim Hudak’s Conservatives would make up for the ’10 lost years’ they say we have experienced under the still governing Ontario Liberals. We invite your views below just so long as you share your real first and last name with them so that all of us are accountable for what we offer to the community of views.)

  1. How are you going to create all those jobs and are you going to bring the slots back to Fort Erie Race track? How? How? How?

The issue is that PC’s believe that austerity will be the ticket even though any research anywhere has shown that it does the opposite. Hudak is a young man with old ideas in a new world. What you have is a federal Conservative government that has spent the last 8 years concentrating on one province and decimating the rest. Free trade deals, again done by Conservatives has eroded Ontario’s manufacturing sector. All research has shown that a country which pins all their economic wealth solely on resources is doomed to be a service industry nation. We have corporations earning untold profits at a time when they have the lowest tax and while the rest of the population is out of jobs. We have banks which are earning never before heard of profits. The PC’s answer to everything is cut and give more to corporations that is somehow going to put back money in the hands of Ontarions. Well it has not worked since the federal Conservatives implemented this idea. The reason? Most multinationals, owned by foreign nations, are making their huge profits on the back of slave labour, no regulations, no pensions and no benefits from China, India etc. and attempting to sell it back to us. And that is the Conservative idea of Ontario doing well. Sorry but no way.

  4. Mike Harris is alive and “CONJURING” as Hudak’s PR people like to use this word BUT the reality is the decline in Ontario began under the Mike Harris gang and was intensified by their move to the Federal Scene. Hudak was a willing disciple of Harris and basically rubber stamped every move Harris MADE. Do very many Ontario People believe his “Manna from Heaven B.S.”?? I hope NOT for in Niagara we no longer have hospitals, our infrastructure is rotting from age and the Sunshine list keeps growing as unemployment follows suit… Do I have the answer well first we could get rid of “ALL” consultants because they are the engineers who fashioned Ontario’s situation and keeps the down hill fall in gear. Then we could make it impossible for corruption to live and grow in our political scene by giving teeth to an “ELECTED BODY” that will harness outlandish spending and eliminate political thievery by institution a “ACCOUNTABILTY CLAUSE that would have crooked politicians get the same treatment as Common folk if caught with their hands in the till……Jail (Maybe that’s a good use for the recently vacated Kingston Pen???)

  5. To Mark: “Cons” deal with it the same way your pinko commies do … ignore it.
I am so sick of seeing the term “cons” in reference to Hudak/Harper et al. I have made it clear here before that I am NOT a fan of Hudak or Harper, but I am fed up with the “neo cons” and “cons” terms. In future I will counter with “pinko commies” in reference to the NDP left-wingers.

Now … to deal with Hudak’s comments above: Drivel — absolutely everything out of his mouth is drivel.

  6. Will, they’re not Canadian Conservatives. They are a disgrace to the Red Tory legacy. They are literally an alliance: Conservative, Reform, Alliance, Party (CRAP). They are an off-shoot of Tom Flanagan and his Republican buddies at the Calgary School. Their prescriptions for the economy: bust unions, lower wages, steal jobs, and enrich the tiny, minority rich even further, to the detriment of a healthy mixed economy. At this moment they are literally selling us out to Communist China with the FIPPA bilateral corporate empowerment deal. Associating social democracy with communism is a CIA psy op tactic. In fact , it’s the CRAP party that is in bed with the communists.

  9. You all have lent credence to what I have been saying all along…..
All of these bozo’s have to go…… and replaced with a grassroots party that understands a) integrity, b) fiscal realities, c) efficiency (increasing of them) and d) the fact that you can not be everything to everyone.
Don’t get me started on FIPPA. Here we are doing business with a country that in my opinion is waging war on us financially and technically (cyber spying). The fact that the Harper government is bent on having dealings with the Chinese is indicative on how out of touch Harper is on matters of aggressive imperialism and international espionage.
Pretty soon all the streets will be dressed with Chinese signage and our wilderness resembling China’s (heard you can’t breath or drink in many parts of China.. wonder why?) sorry….
Back to Ontario, the Liberals and Hudak (notice I didn’t mention the NDP)…. wish we had a viable alternative when next we vote.
    Just sayin……

  10. Perhaps we should invite the leaders of the provincial parties to join this conversation. It would be interesting to see their response to some of the criticisms presented.
What’s the point in us bashing issues around if it never gets to the people who are SUPPOSED to be interested in our wishes?
Have you ever copied Tim, Kathleen or Andrea on the provincial issues discussed in this forum Doug? I would be interested to know.
Have you ever copied the local MP’s on matters of a federal nature?
There responses might, sad as this sounds, provide us with some sick entertainment.
    Just asking…..

  11. To Mark: They are not conservatives! I am a red tory … what this crowd is can be found by going back to the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s. They are Social Credit.
One of the biggest leaders of social credit was Ernest Manning. His son, Preston, started the Reform party after Social Credit imploded. But it was the same old ultra-right philosophy. It morphed into the Alliance and then took over the former Progressive Conservative Party to become what I consider to be the Regressive Conservative Party.
Most of their approach is that of Social Credit.
I grew up under Social Credit in British Columbia. I want nothing to do with them. But they are preferable to the Liberals, who are really only interested in Quebec. The NDP, while generally well-meaning, have too many ultra-left wingnuts for my liking.
We Canadians do not have an honest, middle-of-the-road political movement that is interested in helping people.

  13. To Greg Middleton: right on sir!
We do need new “politics” in Canada — a system that puts the people, not the “party” first.
And the less we have to do with China, the better, at least as far as letting them take over our natural resources. Canada’s resources belong to the people of Canada … not to some American/Chinese/European-owned corporate thieves.

  14. We need a party that will put Humpty Dumpty together again. The Liberals broke all aspects of our system and replaced it with rampant corruption, and carpet bagging thieves. Why not buy an off the shelf E-Health system that works off the US Hospital networks. I know they work, as my daughter was in many Buffalo hospitals. They had access to her health records immediately. I know of lots of ways we can right the sinking ship called Ontario.

  15. The articles above are pleasing to this old detester of GREED and ENTITLEMENT for it show that we are caring Canadian FIRST……….

Have you people ever read a book by David Orchard called “The Fight for Canada?, This book, novel whatever illustrates the “OLD” Liberal Party attempts to integrate Canada with the USA and it was the “OLD PROGRESSIVE” CONSERVATIVE party that fought and defeated this rather traitorous and elitist plan.
Yes!! That same David Orchard who did his damnest to warn the peoples of Canada about the lies and falsehoods when “Progressive Conservative Prime Minister Brian Mulroney with American President Reagan ushered us down the road to Canada’s demise as a sovereign and free country. . “The Free Trade Agreement”.
……and Yes again the same David Orchard who was “conned” into believing that a written agreement between to so called gentlemen would be binding. That meaningless contract was between Orchard and Peter MacKay and stated that Orchard would support MacKay in his bid for leadership of the Old and to some venerated “PROGRESSIVE” Conservative Party of Canada but only if he did not merge the Party With HARPER’S Alliance. So much for a “JUDAS” politician and lawyer respecting his own signature on a contract.
This was HARPER’S loop hole into transforming this Country into his own little joke…a HARPER DICTATORSHIP.
In a previous comment I (not Conservative) wrote that I honestly thought Ontario would vote “Conservative”, for the Liberals “in all” came across as a very corrupt Government who spent taxpayers money like drunken sailor who had been to sea too long, and the NDP really had no Platform or realistic plan to move Canada forward?? Why I don’t really know.
Tin (Tim) HUdak did as he did in the last election spoke words that were not based on reality…..just grandiose words that spoke of pie in the sky and another DICTATORSHIP but this time in Ontario….He screwed up the aspirations of well meaning Conservative by their believing and adopting his TERA PARTY rhetoric and for this they were shown the door by many Ontario people who held their noses and voted ugh… Phew…Liberal once again..TRUTH DOES NOT ALWAYS HURT BUT THIS TIME ………IT DID BIG TIME
