“Long before President Trump, this lake was called Lake Ontario. Long after President Trump is gone, it will still be called Lake Ontario.” – Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario.
A Brief News Commentary by Doug Draper

Ontario Premier Doug Ford may not be too far behind U.S. President Donald Trump when it comes to a slide in public popularity, but one thing is for sure.
Trump is the best thing Ford has had in rallying a majority of the province’s people behind him each and every time he punches back at the orange-face bully’s threats and insults.
So it should be of no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to see Ford jump at the chance to respond to Trump’s recent and ridiculous ‘executive order’ to change the name of Lake Ontario to ‘Lake Ontario’ by erecting big signs along the Canadian shores of the lake, including a couple in Niagara, that read; “Lake Ontario. Now and Always.”
And, of course, why not also turn each and every sign unveiling he attended into even more of a politically partisan event by having MPPs from his own Conservative Party there with him as he did in the Grimsby area this past weekend with Niagara West Sam Oosterhoff there to bask in the photo opportunity.
Yet as much as these staged acts appeal may appeal to a to a good many Ontarians, how much more powerful it is for as many of us in this province and across the country it is continue to deprive Trump’s America of our money by continuing to not visit there and by continuing to not purchase as many products as possible made in the United States.
While we celebrate the blessing of living next to or near the largest bodies of fresh water in the world, including LAKE ONTARIO, let’s do everything we can to explore the beauty of our own country and to support the farmers and other businesses we have here.
