Niagara’s own Bob Saracino
The City of Port Colborne is mourning the passing of former Mayor Bob Saracino, a dedicated community leader and longtime advocate for our city.
Bob devoted decades of his life to serving Port Colborne, including nearly two decades as Mayor. Even after his time in elected office, his passion for the community never faded. He continued to be an active and familiar presence, supporting local organizations, causes and initiatives that mattered deeply to him.
His commitment to Port Colborne and the people who call our city home leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered for his dedication, passion and many contributions to our community.
The City’s flags are lowered to half-mast in recognition of Bob’s passing and his years of service to Port Colborne.
Our deepest condolences go to Bob’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed.
A Brief Note from Niagara At Large reporter/publisher Doug Draper – Bob Saracino’s passing at age 88 marks the loss of another former elected representative in our region who served with class, before this era we now live in where there is too much in the world of politics that has become nasty and self-serving. If there is an after-life, I am sure that other good ones from our region, including the late St. Catharines MPP and Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley, NDP MPPS Mel Swart and Peter Kormos, the late Lincoln Mayor Gladys Huffman and the late St. Catharines municipal councillor Eleanor Lancaster, will be there with open arms to greet him.

A very dear friend of mine for a couple of decades. He introduced me to Port Colborne and it’s fine folks when I ran provincially and assisted me attending events over the years while I was at Queen’s Park. A dedicated public servant who put Port Colborne before his own economic well-being every time. He will be missed by me and many others.
