“While we cannot guarantee assistance or provide specific timelines, every request will be carefully reviewed. Our goal is to connect residents with available support as quickly and efficiently as possible.” – Town of Lincoln in Niagara, Ontario
News from the Town of Lincoln in Niagara, Ontario
Posted August 12th, 2026 on Niagara At Large
The Town of Lincoln is working with partner agencies, including Team Rubicon, deployed by Ontario Corps, and Samaritan’s Purse and Mennonite Disaster Service, to connect residents with flood cleanup and recovery assistance.
Please note that these are the only three agencies the Town of Lincoln is working with to assist removal of damaged materials and cleanup within residents’ homes in Lincoln.
Here’s how the process works:
- We’re contacting affected residents.
- Town staff are reaching out to better understand each household’s situation, including the extent of damage and current cleanup needs. This information will help our partner agencies assess requests and prioritize households facing the greatest need.
- If you haven’t already, please fill out the form on www.lincoln.ca/flooding as this is used to identify those in need.
- Every request will be reviewed.

Working with our partner agencies, we will assess each situation based on the household’s circumstances, available support, and resources. While we cannot guarantee assistance or provide specific timelines, every request will be carefully reviewed. Our goal is to connect residents with available support as quickly and efficiently as possible.
If assistance is available for your household:
- Each group has a slightly different process, but they are all committed to helping everyone in need.
- After reaching out to community members who filled out our online form or reached out to us directly, the Town of Lincoln is providing contact information to Team Rubicon, Samaritan’s Purse Canada, and Mennonite Disaster Service who are then assisting those in greatest need first. A representative from each of these services will contact you directly by phone to arrange an on-site assessment. They will review your situation and discuss the support they may be able to provide and answer your questions.

Background
About Samaritan’s Purse Canada – When water damage affects your home, help is available. Samaritan’s Purse Canada offers free flood cleanup and reclamation support to eligible residents, helping families begin recovery safely, clearly, and with dignity. Working side-by-side with homeowners, our teams remove debris and thoroughly clean your space, leaving it safe and healthy for your family, giving you hope that your path to recovery is well underway.

About Mennonite Disaster Service – At MDS Canada, our goal is to restore hope for survivors of natural disasters. We do this by recruiting, organizing and empowering volunteers to repair and rebuild the homes of those impacted by disasters in Canada and the U.S. Through volunteer labour, we respond by assisting the most vulnerable in a community impacted by a natural disaster—people who would not otherwise have the means to recover on their own due to age, ability, lack of insurance or other circumstances. These services come free of charge to those in need of assistance.

About Team Rubicon – Team Rubicon Canada is a veteran-led humanitarian organization and registered charity that serves communities before, during and after disasters or crises. Our network of almost 5,000 volunteers, who we call Greyshirts, are made up of veterans, first-responders and passionate civilians who all share a desire to serve individuals and communities impacted by disaster. The work we provide comes at no cost to the homeowner requesting assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I will be eligible? – At this stage, we can’t determine eligibility over the phone. We are collecting information from all affected residents so our partner agencies can review each situation.
They will consider factors such as the extent of the damage, those that are uninsured or underinsured through private coverage, your ability to complete the cleanup yourself, available supports, and other circumstances that may affect your recovery. Because resources are limited, assistance is prioritized for households with the greatest need.
When will someone come and help me? – At this time, we don’t have specific timelines, and we appreciate your patience as we work to connect residents with available support as quickly as possible.
Which organization will help me, and how can I get help right away? We are working with these three agencies to reach all community members in need in the quickest and most efficient way possible. Please be patient if you receive calls from more than one agency. There may be duplication, but we are working to streamline this process, so everyone receives the assistance they need, as soon as possible.
Can you tell me more about DRAO, what is it, what are the timelines, what can it be used for? The Town is advocating with the Province of Ontario to begin the process of activating the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program.
The Province of Ontario will assess the impacts of the recent flooding before determining whether DRAO will be activated. No decision has been made at this time, and the process may take several weeks to months.
If the program is activated, eligible applicants may receive financial assistance for emergency expenses and costs for repair or replacement of essential property.
Information is available on our website at Lincoln.ca/flooding, including the types of information and documents that you may be required if funding becomes available. You may also subscribe to our social media channels for updates.
The information residents provide to the Town is important and will help support our advocacy and the Province’s assessment.
