A young Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore wen they starred in the hit 1960s sitom ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’
If you don’t mind indulging me on this one while I try to lighten things up a little bit, a friend from Massachusetts recently shared a short segment of a recent appearance by the legendary, all-round actor, entertainer and comedian Dick Van Dyke on the late-night show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, just a week before his 99th birthday.
You might remember Dick Van Dyke from all of those re-runs, and they still air them, of the big hit 1960s sitcom ‘The Dick Van Dyke’ show, which also featured the late great Mary Tyler Moore, or from his lead role, across from Julie Andrews, as the chimney sweep in the Academy Award-winning movie Mary Poppins.
On the Jimmy Kimmel show, Van Dyke drew a lot of laughter from the audience with his unfailing, quick wit, including when he told the host that he’s old enough to be U.S. President Joe Biden’s father.
Accompanying him as a guest on the show was English singer/songwriter and co-founder of the rock band Coldplay who produced a song and a video that they both starred in.
