Trump is now the first former President in U.S. history to be tried and found guilty of crimes against the people in a court of law

This date – May 30th, 2024 – will go down in history.
It is sure to be remembered by all people of sound mind – by people who do not live in Trump’s cultish alternative universe – as a day when justice prevailed for our friends and neighbours in the United States over rancid acts of corruption aimed at strike blows against that country’s system of democracy.
At or around 5 P.M. on this date a juror of 12 U.S. citizens walked into a courtroom in New York City after hearing more than four weeks of testimony and found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts of committing acts aimed at buying him victory in the 2016 presidential election.
This narcissistic, hate-mongering fascist, who once bragged that he could stand out on Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and get away with it – has finally been sent a clear message that he i, like anyone else, is not above the law.
Not that this delusional monster will ever get it.

Trump walked out of the courtroom following the jury’s verdict this May 30th, ranting that the trial was “totally rigged” against him and that the country is “going to hell.”
Surely now, enough American voters will show up at the polls this coming November and make sure this dangerous madman, who has earlier been convicted in civil courts in the U.S. on charges of fraud and rape, never holds elected office again.
For now at least, Hallelujah!
This is very hopeful news for justice and for democratic values and institutions in the United States, in Canada and the rest of the world.
(As of the latest reporting coming in, Trump will be sentenced by the Judge he has bad-mouthed throughout the trial this coming July)

Doug Draper, Niagara At Large, breathing sighs of relief for so many of my American friends dreading the thought that this evil thug could be president again. I also cannot help but think of some of my friends who did not make it through the pandemic and who were waiting for this day. Hopefully, they are looking down with some sighs of relief of their own that finally, this now convicted felon has been held accountable for at least some of his many alleged crimes.
