A Message to all Friends and Supporters of Waverly Woods from Marcie Jacklin, President of Community Voices of Fort Erie in Niagrar, Ontario
Posted March 28th, 2022 on Niagara At Large
Thank you Fort Erie and Saving Waverly Woods
Dear friends
Niagara, Ontario – On Thursday night we experienced a targeted attack on our zoom Information night meeting.
The attack consisted of hate messages and pornography. I want to take the time to thank the strong, caring people of Fort Erie. Your reaction has been amazing.
We have received emails, Facebook messages, and phone calls supporting us. Signatures to our petition are increasing by the minute.
Thank you for being strong, everyone. Thank you for rising up and standing up for your community.
Thank you for standing up for the democratic process. We need to send a clear message that this behaviour won’t be tolerated in the Fort Erie that we love and live in.
We are especially sad that interested citizens were denied the opportunity to ask questions about an important community issue. If you still have questions please send them to cvferie@gmail.com
Next steps.
We intend to proceed with the online meeting on April 6th. Thank you to everyone who has registered for this since last night’s meeting was shut down. Details soon.

Inside the canopy of Waverly Woods, a well-worn path winds through. How long will it last?
The $30 Challenge. How much does Waverly Woods/Erie Beach mean to you? 100% of the donations we receive goes towards paying the fees for our Lawyer, Planner and Experts (the Dream Team) https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-waverly-woods or send a donation to Community Voices of Fort Erie, P.O. Box 273, Fort Erie, Ontario L2A 2S0.
Please consider sending this link https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/fort-erie-harbourtown-village-1.6391454 to all or some of the following politicians, if you haven’t done so already, and let them know which issues are the most important to you – history, environment or community assets?
The politicians are with the regional, provincial, or federal government in various capacities – chair, area representatives, or Indigenous, Heritage and Environment Ministries. Mention that this property deserves a historical designation for the Indigenous Peoples, War of 1812, the Erie Beach Amusement Park and Black Histories.
There are multiple Endangered and Species at Risk that breed or migrate through this property, such as Red-headed Woodpecker, Monarch Butterflies, Fowler’s Toad, Wood Thrush, Golden-winged Warbler and many more. The health and wellness benefits to the community are priceless.
