NIAGARA FALLS — Niagara Falls NDP MPP Wayne Gates blasted the Ford Government on the situation of both COVID-19 booster shots and rapid test availability across Niagara.
“We have been in this pandemic for two years and the roll-out of these rapid tests and these booster shots might be one of the biggest messes yet – how can the Province be so far behind on this,” said Gates.
“We’ve been telling Ford to release rapid tests to the public for weeks and when he finally does it, only two locations across Niagara get them. To make matters worse, they were gone almost instantly – there were no tests available in cities like Niagara Falls or Grimsby. We need more rapid tests available and we need them in cities across Niagara, not just one city.”
Gates said his office is being inundated with calls from seniors desperate to book their vaccines before everyone 18+ becomes eligible on Monday. Residents have been trying to book appointments online and through pharmacies but have been struggling to get dates.
“How Premier Ford announced vaccine appointments without recognizing the situation here in Niagara is beyond me – he’s abandoning his duty as the Premier of all the people of Ontario. I’ve spoken to his office and the message was simple, we’re not going to stop calling until we get our fair share of vaccines,” said Gates.
Gates also sent a letter to the Deputy Premier on Monday demanding that Niagara be given its fair share of vaccines immediately.

With Christmas coming the Ford Government really can’t concentrate one hundred percent on the pandemic. You have to remember he has all those Ministerial Zoning Orders that have to be sent out to his developer friends before the 25th and that is his priority.

How bad is this, your past handling of an epidemic was an epic failure but this is beyond all expectations of your ability to screw things up Mr.Ford11The NDP warned and warned and asked you for rapid test, the citizens of Ontario stepped up in droves wanting this, wanting to help and test and do the right thing …you stand at the podium and ask people to step up , a call to arms and when they do, No appt’s for shots, No rapid tests available, testing sites given to Pharmacey’s that are terrified of covid coming into the workplace, during Christmas Shopping as you took capacity limits off and here we sit the worst wave of this pandemic, no appt’s for vaccines, people wanting to get tested but cannot and you and your merry gang of thieves Mr. Ford have failed the people of Ontario. Why not just resign before you kill more people in Ontario and let a government willing to work for people step up to get us out of this?
