All Communist China Nationals should be barred from Canada and Have Any Asset They Own Here Frozen – Doug Draper, Niagara At Large

A Brief Foreword from Doug Draper at Niagara At Large –

Michael Spavor, jut one Canadian targetted for a sham trial and harsh sentencing in Communist China
It is at least heartening to see Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau finally issue some tough language after spending too much of the last six years pandering and genuflecting to China’s Communist government for crass business reasons.
Yet what is Trudeau going to do to put some fire behind his words?
Here are just a few ideas I have heard from foreign affairs experts over the past couple of days since this outrageous sentence was delivered by one of the Communist China kangaroo courts to one of Canada’s ‘two Michaels.’
First, immediately ban entrance to Canada of all Chinese students wanting to attend universities and colleges in our country. As has been said, many if not all of these students are members of elite China families who are in bed with that country’s brutal communist regime. They come here, reportedly, because they prize a so-called English education, so let’s bar them of that.
Canada should immediately urge our allies, including the United States and all free, democratic countries in Europe to do the same.

Second, send all China nationals in Canada who have no proof of citizenship in our country, home, and freeze any assets they have here, including property.
I follow up these recommended actions with a note that to say that any Communist China agents involved in plans to destroy or compromise provincially significant wetlands in Niagara Falls’ Thundering Water Forest – an ecologically significant piece of the Niagara River watershed – should have their assets frozen and be ordered to leave Canada too.
A brutal dictatorship like this, with hellish concentration camps, violent crackdowns on any and all citizens rallying for freedom and democracy, should not be allowed to do business in our country.
The free world should cut this hellish regime and its agents completely off. It is a terrorist force that poses a clear and present danger to democracy and civil rights everywhere.

Now here is the statement from Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau –
The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today (this August 11th, 2021) issued the following statement on the verdict of Michael Spavor:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Will he follow up his words with action?
“China’s conviction and sentencing of Michael Spavor is absolutely unacceptable and unjust.
“The verdict for Mr. Spavor comes after more than two and a half years of arbitrary detention, a lack of transparency in the legal process, and a trial that did not satisfy even the minimum standards required by international law.
“For Mr. Spavor, as well as for Michael Kovrig who has also been arbitrarily detained, our top priority remains securing their immediate release. We will continue working around the clock to bring them home as soon as possible.
“Our thoughts, and the thoughts of all Canadians, are with Mr. Spavor and his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The Government of Canada continues to provide consular assistance to Mr. Spavor and his family as we work to secure his safe return.
“I want to thank Canada’s many partners, friends, and allies for their solidarity and support for the release of Mr. Spavor and Mr. Kovrig, and their opposition to the practice of arbitrary detention. We will not rest until they are safely brought home.”

One small thing we can all do is refrain from purchasing Chinese goods as much as possible. They have embargos on many Canadian products and who knows what additional measures the PM may invoke to reduce/block all trade with China. They are quite dependent on the free world markets to fuel their economy. We need to be much less dependent on this belligerent world power than we are at present

It sounds great but NOBODY will follow the suggestions because they involve loss of cash. Talk is cheap. Actions cost money. Do they really think the US or anyone else will withdraw all of their Chinese factories that supply cheap labour or stop buying and selling goods with them or sell off our land to rich investors or that universities will give up those tuitions? Fat chance.
The same with climate change and every other issue. Short term gain for long term pain. They just care about the now, not the later. So what, we risk a couple of citizens for the cause! People are cheap commodities in China.
This fiasco was all caused by the US and their claims of fraud against Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou. Canada got stuck in the middle and we pay the price. The US needs to apply the pressure. To China, Canada is just an annoying gnat, nothing more.
