These Gold-Plated Burgers Are For Ford’s Rich Donors. The Rest of Us Can’t Even Find Ford’s A Buck-A-Beer Suds Any more

When was the last time that you shelled out a thousand bucks to chow down one hamburger?
Probably never unless you are a well-healed member of Ontario’s development industry, or private long-term-care home industry or a corporate polluter or something of the like who wants to curry favour with Premier Doug Ford and his government Conservatives.
Hell, we can’t even go in to an LCBO store in the province and find the buck-a-can beer Ford promised us after he came to power almost three years ago. Not that it is much of a loss. When I went in to an LCBO outlet a couple of years ago and inquired about it, a member of the staff warned me that it tasted like “carbonated mule piss.”

Remember when Doug Ford tried appealing to “the little guy” by passing off this rancid swill? This swill has gone down just about as well as all of the other crap Ford’s Conservatives have tried pouring down our throats over the past three years.
Yet here is Ford and his Conservative Party cronies planning a $1,000-a-burger fund-raiser in North Bay, Ontario for powerful business donors who may be planning to destroy more wetlands and woodlands to build condos with off-shore financing near me or you.
And this is the same Ford Conservative gang who recently made unprecedented something called the “not-with-standing clause in Canada’s Constitution to bar what it calls other “special interests”, including environmental groups and organizations representing Ontario workers, from running ads against them during this coming year’s provincial election.
But then hey. Apparently some rogue in the development industry paying a thousand bucks for a burger to win their way with this Ford government is just dandy.
So much for the party for the people.

Now here is a Statement released this July 5th by Ontario’s NDP Official Opposition Party –
NDP statement on Ford’s $1,000-a-burger fundraiser in North Bay
QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario NDP Ethics and Accountability critic Taras Natyshak released the following statement on Doug Ford’s $1,000-a-burger fundraiser to be held Monday in North Bay, the first in-person fundraiser of the pandemic:
“The pandemic isn’t over, but Doug Ford has long-since turned his attention to prioritize collecting thousands in donations from his rich insiders and lobbyists. There aren’t too many regular folks willing to pay $1,000 for a burger and a pop — but Ford is happy to focus on the ultra-wealthy who are willing and able to shell out $1,000 per person for access.”
Monday’s luncheon is one of at least four PC Party fundraisers this week.

He’s making minced-meat of the taxpayer and environmentally aware citizens… to feed the rich and to pave over wetlands for more roads to the banks.

Ford has to go. While his buck a beer failed as a promise in the last election, this time his $1000 donation burgers with the rich will continue paving our wetlands, he will funnel funding into for profit long-term care, facilities run by PC former staffers who are responsible for many deaths during the pandemic. He will continue to fail small business, the disabled, and the homeless. So many issues for Ontarians, so much hardship, and his focus right now is fundraising with the rich to “try” and hold his position.
