Niagara, Ontario — “Our communities are facing longer and deeper lockdowns, once again, because Doug Ford failed to take action and invest the money we needed in our health and safety.

It should never have come to this. If Ford had stepped up earlier with paid sick days and family care days so people didn’t have to go to work when they’re unwell, testing in our schools and workplaces and more funding for our local health units to test and contact trace, we could have avoided this.

Instead, Ford decided to sit back and wait for the vaccine, knowing it’s still months before everyone is vaccinated.

Our thanks and praise go to everyone in the Niagara region, particularly our frontline heroes, who are working hard to prevent the spread, and our condolences go out to all those that have had their lives touched by COVID.”

The three NDP MPPs at a news conference in downtown St. Catharines this past fall, for the launch of an NDP plan to support Ontario’s main street businesses.

  1. Respectfully, no amount of money could have stopped this! What would help is having the police and bylaw enforcement do their damned jobs!
As long as the police raid hotel rooms of parties of 30 and fine only two and also fail to fine the hotel owner and desk staff who obviously turned a blind eye then really, what does anyone expect?
It is more important to the City of Niagara Falls to maintain its image as party central than it is to slow the pandemic and keep people safe!
Then, in NOTL, the factory outlet mall advertised a discount for out of town shoppers! Again, in whose world does this make sense?
Where are the fines for those who orchestrated this? And, in Niagara Falls, residents were taking photos of unmasked tourists who were also not social distancing and Mayor Diodati said the images were not accurate! Really?
He further went on to say that masks make COVID worse!
The bottom line here is that money cannot fix stupid or irresponsible.
