Niagara Falls, Ontario – Niagara Parks is proud to collaborate with Niagara’s 12 municipalities and the Niagara Region to hold ‘Canada Day the Niagara Way;, a virtual celebration of Canada’s 153rd birthday on July 1.
Katie FitzGerald will kick things off with the national anthem, along with signature Niagara-based entertainment Juliet Dunn, Avenue Inn of Niagara Falls, Spencer Burton of Pelham and Great Lake Swimmers of Wainfleet performing throughout the program.
Country star and St. Catharines native Tim Hicks will headline the event. Interactive elements from the 2021 Canada Summer Games committee and other exciting activations will also be part of the show.
The celebration, hosted by Carrie Zeffiro of YourTV Niagara, will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1 at www.facebook.com/NiagaraParks.
Viewers are encouraged to share their own Canada Day-themed content on social media using #CanadaDayNiagaraWay .
Niagara Parks Chair Sandie Bellows will be joined by Niagara mayors, members of parliament and Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley to have a role in the program, with filming occurring in 10 different locations throughout Niagara.
While Canada Day fireworks are an annual tradition in Queen Victoria Park, due consideration of physical distancing measures and the challenges with avoiding large groups during that type of event, this year’s show will not be moving ahead.
Currently, the fireworks schedule for the remainder of 2020, has been temporarily suspended. This decision will be regularly reviewed as new guidelines and recommendations are put forward by our public health officials.
