A Statement from Ontario NDP Official Opposition Leader Andrea Horwath

QUEEN’S PARK — NDP Official Opposition Leader Andrea Horwath released the following statement of condolences following the loss of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) who worked at Madonna Care Community in Orleans to COVID-19:
“The loss of this health care hero to COVID-19 weighs heavily on all our hearts, and my thoughts are with his family, friends, and union brothers and sisters at this painful time. While they can’t come together to comfort one another as they mourn, I do hope they find some solace in their shared memories.
The death of one PSW to COVID-19 is one too many, and we must not forget them as the losses become even greater. No one should be left to wonder if their loved one might have survived — if only they had been properly protected on the frontlines.
PSWs are sacrificing so much to help keep our loved ones healthy. The least we can do as a province is ensure workers have the equipment they need to stay safe, using the precautionary principle.”
