Niagara, Ontario – NDP Critic of Veterans, Legions and Military Affairs, MPP Jennie Stevens, shows respect to the 359 Canadians who lost their lives on the beaches of Normandy and the 1,074 soldiers who were brutally injured in that same battle, 75 years ago.
“75 years ago, they left as ordinary people. When they marched onto the beaches of Normandy, they were forever changed – they became our heroes. What sets them apart is their unwavering service, and their willingness to risk, and for some, give, the ultimate sacrifice to each and every one of us,” says MPP Stevens.
With a son in the Navy for over a decade, MPP Stevens is passionate about showing gratitude to every veteran who served our country. It’s close to her heart and her goal is to ensure that every veteran is accounted for.
MPP Stevens wants to remind everyone that today should be about remembrance, “to show our respect today, the least we can do is focus our thoughts and words on thanking the thousands of brave Canadians who risked their lives. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with St. Catharines Legions, to support veterans in any way possible.”
