Niagara, Ontario —Today, Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West welcomed news that Ontario’s Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek announced all children 12 and under will travel for free on GO Transit trains and buses starting March 9, 2019 – just in time for March Break.
“Free trips for children on GO Transit will make travel more affordable for families in the Niagara region,” said Oosterhoff. “This good news means that more families can easily enjoy attractions throughout the GTHA together during March Break and throughout the year.”
Kids 12 and under will travel for free on all GO trains and buses without a PRESTO card. Children can already travel on the TTC and UP Express for free. Introducing free rides for children on GO Transit will make travelling across the region more seamless and convenient, as part of the government’s plan to better integrate transit in the GTHA.
“Letting kids ride GO for free will make taking transit easier and more affordable for parents and kids,” said Minister Yurek. “Whether you’re visiting family or taking a trip to the mall, free trips for children will help families save money and offer parents a low-stress alternative to driving.”
“Letting kids ride GO Transit for free is another way our government is getting people across our region moving,” said Yurek. “We are making family fun more affordable for Ontarians.”
