Share A Night With Some Stooges That Are Actually Funny

A Brief One from Doug Draper

I know, I know. … You’ve been reading and hearing about stooges all spring and summer for weeks.

Some of you have probably even been unfortunate enough to go to a Niagara regional council meeting, if you live on the Ontario side of the border, or live stream some sessions of the U.S. Congress if you are on the American side and have seen more stooges in action than you would want to see in a lifetime there.

So why, you might rightly ask, would you want to spend precious hours of this mid-summer long weekend seeing even more?

The reason is that these are not your all to ubiquitous political stooges. These are the legendary, the super iconic Kings of Slap Stick Comedy – the one and only Three Stooges this Saturday, August 4th on the big screen of the classic Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, New York.

I’m sure that at least a few of you are saying; “You’ve got to be kidding. I’m going to spend a night in a theatre watching those three knuckleheads? That’s stupid!”

It is? If you live in a province with a stooge like Doug Ford for a premier or a country with a stooge like Donald Trump for a president, don’t get high handed on me now.

So get that pole out of your keister for an evening and join Stooge-Fest’s  host Lenny Potwora, always immaculately dressed in a black tux and offering up great introductory commentary for each of the seven or more Stooge shorts shown, and a packed theatre full of men, women and kids ready to yuk it up all night

Before the films get rolling, there is an organ concert on the Riviera Theatre’s grand old Wurlitzer organ, and during the intermission, there are piles of Three Stooges t-shirts and other Stooge stuff for sale in a big hall at the back.

Does that sound like a whole night of great fun? To quote the immortal Curley; “Well  SOITENLY!”
