An Invite to All from the Niagara movement for Justice in Palestine- Israel
Posted June 15th, 2018 on Niagara At Large
A number of very concerned residents of Niagara have initiated a “Movement for Justice in Palestine-Israel” (MJPI). The movement made its presence felt very positively at the Market Square in St. Catharines on 19 May.
Participants were encouraged by the large number of the public who were very receptive to their message.
They are now holding a MARCH FOR JUSTICE IN PALESTINE-ISRAEL on Friday, 22 June, 2018 starting at 4.30 p.m. on the sidewalks at the intersection of Geneva- St. Paul- Niagara Streets in St.Catharines.
They are inviting all who are longing for peace in the “Holy land” to join in the march, recognizing that their efforts are part of a strong, ongoing and growing national and international movement.
This international movement is drawing attention to the brutal oppression of Palestinians by the Government of Israel that has been going on for over 70 years, during which thousands of Palestinians have been killed.
It calls for: an end to the Israeli policy of apartheid, oppression, dispossession, child arrests; an end to the illegal occupation of the West Bank and illegal annexation of East Jerusalem; an end to the blockade of Gaza where even in very recent months over 100 unarmed Palestinians have been killed and thousands have been injured by Israel armed forces. In May 2018, over 50 were killed in one day!
The marchers are urging support for a concerted international “Boycott, Divestment and Sanction” action with regard to Israel (bdsmovement.net ). This kind of action was the single most effective cause of the end of Apartheid in South Africa.
They are urging all Canadians to insist that their MPs demand that Canada acts immediately to end the desperate plight of Palestinians by taking effective measures to make the Israeli government obey international law and UN resolutions.
They make it clear that this is not a matter of Jews versus Muslims or even of Israelis versus Palestinians. It is simply a matter of justice in the land where the angels once heralded, “Peace on Earth”.
