Get On The Bus From Buffalo!
“Ninety seven miles of new pipeline tearing through our countryside and streams, toxic spewing compressor stations and a dehydration facility to send fracked gas to Canada simply do not fit the vision we want to see, with NY leading the way to a renewable energy future.”
A Call-Out from Members of the Sierra Club in Buffalo/Western New York
Posted March 22rd on Niagara At Large
Buffalo, New York – Are you ready to rally with us? It’s time to take our message to Gov. Cuomo, the DEC and our state representatives.
We need to make sure they hear Western NY say No to the proposed Northern Access 2016 fracked gas pipeline.
We are calling for denial of the DEC 401 Air and Water Certifications. We have groups from Albany and NYC offering to join us but we need to show that Western NY is ready to protect our air, water and communities.
We need YOU!
We realize this is not a small thing to ask, to board a bus early on a Monday morning, but keep in mind this is decision time. By April 7th the DEC must decide to approve or deny the Northern Access so NOW is our chance.
Let’s do this TOGETHER!
National Fuel’s proposed Northern Access 2016 is the Constitution Pipeline’s ‘twin’ and would cross 192 streams and 270 wetlands. We need to let Governor Cuomo and the DEC know that Western NY deserves the same protection as Eastern NY where the Constitution was denied.
Please join us to let Gov. Cuomo know that we expect him to live up to his policies promoting renewable energy, cutting GHG emissions, and cleaning up and protecting our water. Ninety seven miles of new pipeline tearing through our countryside and streams, toxic spewing compressor stations and a dehydration facility to send fracked gas to Canada simply do not fit the vision we want to see, with NY leading the way to a renewable energy future.
Gov. Cuomo said it himself in his January SOS:
“Now that New York has built a foundation for the renewable energy system of the future, the State must double down by investing in the fight against dirty fossil fuels and fracked gas from neighboring states to achieve the goals outlined in the Governor’s Clean Energy Standard.”
