A wire story that went around the world this past Wednesday, August 17th featured what the Daily Telegraph of Great Britain rightfully described as “a heartbreaking image of a dazed and bloodied child circulating on social media shows the horror of what have become routine airstrikes in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

The five-year-old boy Omran Daqneesh was reportedly one of five children injured in the Russian or Assad (the regime airstrike this past August 17th night. But western nations, including Canada, have engaged in air strikes in that hapless country too, and as much as our leaders call them “precision strikes,” that is bunk.
You can’t bomb populated places without causing collateral damage – without killing or severely injuring people who are down there on the ground, just trying to live their lives in their communities like you or I or our sisters and sisters or daughters and sons or this poor little boy.
Anyone who says you can is telling a lie.
We should all take a good long look at this image of him and ask what in hell are we collectively doing engaging in these “campaigns” or whatever sanitized thing our leaders try to call them.
A young Bob Dylan wrote the following lyrics a full 53 years ago for a song he called ‘Masters of War’ and here they bloody are well, just as relevant today as they were then.
“Come you masters of war You that build the big guns You that build the death planes You that build all the bombs You that hide behind walls You that hide behind desks I just want you to know I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin’ But build to destroy You play with my world Like it’s your little toy You put a gun in my hand And you hide from my eyes And you turn and run farther When the fast bullets fly
You’ve thrown the worst fear That can ever be hurled Fear to bring children Into the world For threatening my baby Unborn and unnamed You ain’t worth the blood That runs in your veins
Let me ask you onequestion Is your money that good? Will it buy you forgiveness Do you think that it could? I think you will find When death takes its toll All the money you made Will never buy back your soul”
Take another look at the image of that little boy and make it your business to speak out against governments, including the recently departed Harper government and recently elected Trudeau government of Canada for allowing corporations in their jurisdictions to make and sell machines of war to murderous regimes.
Every one of us who sits back and says nothing has the blood of that child and millions like him on our hands.

CANADA? A few short years ago during the “Holocaust that was Gaza” too many young and infant children were the victims…. and…… some Canadian Provinces, including Ontario petitioned the Federal HARPER Government to allow some of those severely injured children to be brought to CANADA for treatment. HARPER and his pawns refused this request and the rest is horrible history of a HARPER CANADA
