“I believe people have not only a right to access healthcare, but a right to access it in a quick and timely fashion.” – Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates
A Message from the Constituency Office of Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates

Niagara Falls, Ontario – Wayne Gates, MPP for Niagara Falls, has asked for a meeting with Dr. Suzanne Johnston, the President of Niagara Health System, regarding lengthy MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) wait times in Niagara.
“Over the summer, I’ve had resident after resident come into my office complaining about how long they have to wait to get an MRI” said Gates “in some cases, we have people who are waiting until November or December”.
Gates continued by saying that the wait times are causing stress among Niagara residents who have to wait so long to find out concrete details about their health.
According to the Ministry the target time for an MRI is 28 days in Ontario. The current wait time in Niagara is 105 days compared to 32 days for St. Joseph’s in Hamilton, where patients access an MRI three times faster.
“I believe people have not only a right to access healthcare, but a right to access it in a quick and timely fashion. I am hoping the NHS will work with me and the province to reduce this time and make sure people have access to the services they need”
