Anti-War Activist To Stage Hamilton Rally Against Possible U.S.-Led Attack On Syria

A Submission from the citizen activist group Hamilton Coalition To Stop The War

(NAL is officially re-launching this site today, this September 9th,  and apologizes for not getting this September 9th event posted earlier. Hopefully it is not too late for some of you out there who may wish to attend. Whether you agree on a military attack on Syria or not, this may go down in history as a milestone moment for our present and future. Follow it closely!)

Barack Obama is leading the world down the warpath vs. Syria;Syria Leaflet

-on the flimsiest pretext: weapons of mass destruction;

– before the investigative results are in;

-without the approval of the United Nations Security Council,

-under the guise of a “humanitarian intervention”;

-which might lead to a global conflict: the US vs Russia and China.

Stephen Harper currently says Canada has no plans to participate in the US-led attack on Syria. But he has lied to us before: four times, in fact, he promised there would be no extension of the war in Afghanistan. Now, he is even refusing to recall Parliament to debate the Syrian crisis.

Canadians do not want another war. Public opinion polls show it. The Harper government blew $25 billion of our money on the Afghan war, money needed for fairer employment insurance benefits, better pensions, creation of new green jobs, medical care, lower tuition fees, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure updates.

Harper to keep his HANDS OFF SYRIA!, to withdraw Canada from NATO and the so-called “Friends of Syria Group”, and to bring our warships home. Write or phone your member of parliament. Pass a resolution in your local. Talk about it at work, at school, to your family, to friends, at your place of worship, on social media. Circulate a petition. Write a letter to the editor.

(About the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War – The Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War began life as the November 16th Coalition, which formed in Hamilton to organize opposition to the then impending attack on Iraq. Our goal was to unite all the elements in society who were against America’s design to punish and conquer Iraq in order to further their imperial expansion into the oil rich Middle-East. 1. War is definitely not the answer. How does your group propose to stop the Syrian government from poisoning its own people?

  2. Remember the pretext for invading Iraq? All lies. We may never know who is responsible for the gas attacks, particularly if the evidence is destroyed by an invasion, or the UN investigators are prevented from completing their investigations. Currently there is a barrage of messaging in the corporate media which is now, as it was prior to the invasion of Iraq, a key agency of propaganda.

  3. Where is the Arab League in all of this? We never hear from them any more.
    I firmly believe that western countries should stay out of middle eastern politics. Let them sort it out themselves. They seem to take great delight in killing and maiming each other.
    The idiocy of western countries becoming involved in trying to resolve middle east politics/tribal warfare has been proved many times over.
