Who will Ontario Premier Doug Ford and his government annoint to replace the late Jim Bradley, pictured above, as the next Regional Chair in Niagara? Apparently not outgoing Niagara Falls mayor Jim Diodatii
According to a story by Niagara’s CKTB Radio reporter Bonnie Heslop, Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and House Rob Flack says that Jim Diodati, who lost his Niagara Falls mayor seat to N.F. city councillor Lori Lococo, is now not in the running for a provincial appointment as Niagara’s Regional Chair.
Bonnie Heslop’s story came out after this reporter speculated that Diodati, now being at large after his defeat in Niagara Falls’ mayoral race, might be a candidate for an appointement to the regional chair job, expected to be made by the Ford government sometime in the month of November.
That brings us back to looking at former Welland Mayor Frank Campion, Niagara-on-the-Lake Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa and Lincoln Regional Council Rob Foster, among a few others and who voluntarily left their positions before this October’s municipal elections, still in the running for a Regional Chair position that used to be filled by someone chosen by our duly elected regional councillors.
Now it is Doug Ford and his government running the show and they will decide who our next regional chair in Niagara will be.
How democratic is that?
