Please join us on May 28 in support of our public hospitals as we send a strong message to Premier Doug Ford and Sylvia Jones Minister of Health. Stop Privatizing and Start Funding our public health system.
Niagara health is reducing our health services by laying off front line health professionals and health support staff. Existing staff are run off their feet trying to meet the needs of the patients many of whom are being cared for in hallways.
Our wait times are long, Our hospitals are well over 100% occupancy. Many patients are sent home too early and may not have the home care supports that they need.
The newly opened West Lincoln Memorial hospital has long ER wait times and not enough beds to meet the needs of West Niagara’s population. Hamilton Health is struggling to manage its huge deficit.
Having lost its emergency surgeries and medical beds, Welland is no longer a full service hospital. Fort Erie and Port Colborne UCC have reduced hours and the hospitals are scheduled to close.
Underfunding has created this crisis. It’s time for Doug Ford to act – stop the privatization of our health care system and start properly fund our public healthcare and hospitals so that patients receive the care they need when they need it.
