Those of you who have been close followers of this independent news and commentary site over the years, and I sincerely thank you for that,  probably know that its publisher – yours truly – has often shared music I feel hits the mark for the times we are living in.

Songs have always been a soundtrack for me as we continue our journey through life and the following one by The Rascals, one of my favourite groups from the 1960s that delivered some great ones like ‘Good Lovin’, ‘Groovin’ and ‘I’ve Been Lonely Too Long’, seems particularly appropriate for the strife-torn times that we and people around the world are living through now.

It is called ‘People Got To Be Free’, a song The Rascals came out with and that went all the way to No. One on the Billboard Charts at an earlier time of strife in 1968, during the Vietnam War and the assassinations that year of Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King and then Senator and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy (not to be confused with his screwball of a son working for Trump today)  and you can watch them perform it by clicking on the screen immediately below –

  • Wishing for a better world for all of us, Doug Draper
