A Brief Note from Niagara At Large reporter/publisher Doug Draper

Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley,
When, as has been the case since this past mid to late August, you have Niagara regional council and committee meetings, along with public events of interest and concern to the Niagara region, and Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley is not there, you have to wonder if something is wrong.
After all, and as anyone who has been following public affairs in Niagara for decades now may know, Jim Bradley could always be counted on to be there, going back to his days as a St. Catharines city councillor in the 1970s, as a provincial member of parliament for St. Catharines from 1977 to 2018, and for the past more than six and a half years, as Chair of Niagara’s regional government.
As it turned out, Jim Bradley has been receiving hospital care since late August for what has reportedly been described as stroke-like symptoms that come and go away. The condition is more technically known as transient ischemic attacks or TIA for short.
With that, please join me in wishing Jim Bradley a speedy and a very full and healthy recovery.
In the meantime, members of Niagara Regional Council will take turns sitting in the Chair’s seat.
