St. Catharines, Thorold, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls – Nationally, Tim Hortons restaurant owners will be supporting over 600 charities and community groups through the Smile Cookie campaign from April 29 – May 5, 2024.

Locally, with every purchase of a Smile Cookie from the St. Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-Lake locations, the proceeds will be donated to The Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region and Autism Ontario South Region and sales from Niagara Falls will be donated to Project SHARE and the Alzheimer Society.

There are 11,751 people living with dementia in the Niagara Region.

The Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region utilizes a person-centered model of care that helps persons living with dementia, caregivers, and families to understand dementia as it relates to their unique experiences, and to adapt to changes to their everyday lives, relationships, and roles.

“Your support will enable us to continue providing community programs that promote health and well-being, that are vital to extending the independence of persons living with dementia” states Teena Kindt, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region.

Autism Ontario is the province’s leading source of information and referral on autism and helps all autistic individuals and families in their communities have access to meaningful support, information, and connections so they are equitably and seamlessly supported across their life course.

Autism Ontario South Region will be raising funds to directly support our 24th Annual Summer Camp for autistic children, youth, and adults with complex medical and sensory needs requiring direct support.

Marg Spoelstra, CEO of Autism Ontario, highlights the importance of offering camps dedicated to the autistic community. – “We know that a camp experience can have a lifelong positive impact on children. For autistic children, making camp truly inclusive means offering extra support from specially trained staff, sometimes on a 2 to 1 basis per camper. Your financial support makes the camp magic happen for both children and their families.”

In 2023 over 13,000 people relied on Project SHARE equating to approximately 1 in every 7 residents of Niagara Falls. The proceeds from this campaign will help Project SHARE meet this alarming need and provide emergency support services including food and homelessness prevention, to the growing number of families in our community who are struggling to meet their basic needs.

“We thank the Tim Hortons owners and customers for their generous support to help keep our Niagara Falls neighbours fed, housed and healthy” states Pam Sharp, Executive Director of Project SHARE.
