It Was Everyday Citizens – Not Politicians and Surely Not Developers – That Won Some Concessions in the Fight to Save Waverly Woods along the Shores of our Great Lakes in Fort Erie, Ontario

Power to the people.
The public must stand up to those who care only about the almighty dollar and don’t care what invaluable treasures they destroy! This was a grass roots movement that average citizens researched for over four years and they worked hard to attain at least some concessions.
If the average person doesn’t speak up and fight for their towns and their special uniqueness, nobody else will. When it’s gone it’s gone forever!!!!!
Everyone needs to stand up to any greedy individuals who have little or no regard for communities, the people who live there, the history, the natural beauty, the serenity and the wildlife. They create havoc in one place and move on to the next one with pocketsful of cash. They just don’t care!
Unfortunately, such people have the money to fight the average Joe’s and Jill’s of the world.
I don’t know what people consider affordable housing to alleviate the housing shortage but most projects sure ain’t it!
Elections are coming up, provincial next month, with one party (the Ford Tories) wanting an expressway through the Greenbelt, and municipal elections are coming in the fall. … It is time to clean house at every level.
Throw the bums out who don’t act on your behalf. Hear that politicians?

Elected officials all over Niagara have demonstrated that they are not willing to be the champions for the environment that we need. Hats off to the people who fought the good fight over Waverly Woods!
Ed Smith should run for Regional Chair. I’d run for mayor but just don’t want to wade through the sewage. They just don’t get it! Things will change IF we vote THEM ALL out. Let’s try, shall we.
It might be time for another house cleaning. It happened back in the 2018 election and there is no reason it can’t happen again……………….iagaraatlarge.com/2018/10/23/somewhere-between-beautiful-and-abysmal-these-municipal-elections-werent-bad/
