A Call-Out to All Canadians to say Enough is Enough from Canandians forTax Fairness

Posted February 17th, 2021 on Niagara At Large

This is the last week in federal Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s public consultations to tell her what you want to see in her upcoming budget!

Budget 2021-22 will be the most important budget in decades.

The federal debt is at record levels, but we need public investments to recover from the pandemic and to build back better: with pharmacare, accessible childcare, long-term care and other social supports in a more  equitable and sustainable economy.

Many will say we can’t afford to make life better for ordinary Canadians and to protect our environment for future generations. But Canada’s top billionaires have already increased their wealth by more than $50 billion during the pandemic and many large corporations are making record profits.

Please tell Minister Freeland and Prime Minister Trudeau we need the federal government to invest more in these critical areas–and that we can pay for it with progressive tax reforms.

The choice is yours. You can tell them what you want in three different ways: fill out their questionnaire [1], send in your own submission, [2] or sign our letter to the Minister [3]to tell her we need a Tax Fairness budget to rebuild a more inclusive economy and ensure the wealthiest Canadians and most profitable corporations contribute their fair share.

But please do it by the deadline of 19 February.

  • Thank you, Toby Sanger, Director, Canadians for Tax Fairness
