Then Vice-President Joe Biden with Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, during better days for Canada-U.S. relations during a visit to Ottawa in 2018

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their election as the next President and Vice President of the United States of America.
“Canada and the United States enjoy an extraordinary relationship – one that is unique on the world stage. Our shared geography, common interests, deep personal connections, and strong economic ties make us close friends, partners, and allies.
“We will further build on this foundation as we continue to keep our people safe and healthy from the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic, and work to advance peace and inclusion, economic prosperity, and climate action around the world.
“I look forward to working with President-elect Biden, Vice President-elect Harris, their administration, and the United States Congress as we tackle the world’s greatest challenges together.”

As Joe Biden and Kamala Harris grasp the power and freedom they have, I expect to see a basic fairness and positive caring for all of us. With a need to avoid the touchy and explosive weapons ready right wing (nuts) they will sound the wholesome values we have so long missed. From there we will find the truths and the pathways to a greater society dedicated to people not wealth and power. The focus of power will switch from the very richest and elite to the people with their right to vote and express approval of forward moving leadership. Double Down for Kamala! Such a terrific statement for women….. “exultate …..con brio!!”

I can finally stop holding my breath! The nightmares and headaches will be fewer. Trump called us an enemy and a national security threat and insulted us perpetually. He knew better than to visit Canada except in a remote Quebec location for a “G” meeting and then left in a huff refusing to sign the group statement. Obama and Trudeau WALKED down the street together for an ice cream. It would be hilarious to see Trump try that anywhere on the globe.
