“Unprecedented, historic corruption: an American president commutes the sentence of a person convicted by a jury of lying to shield that very president.” – Republic Senator Mitt Romney upon finding out this July 10th that Trump granted Roger Stone clemency
Master showman that he is, a masked Roger Stone flashes his Nixonian peace signs after work came out this July 10th that his pal Trump granted him a ‘stay out of jail’ card for his loyalty to ‘dear leader’.
So here is Roger Stone, one of Trump’s long-time friends and operatives, being granted clemency by Trump, just as he was about to go to jail after being found guilty in a U.S. court of law on a number of felony charges related to the whole Russia-interfering-in-the-2016-presidential-election affair.
Thanks to Trump and his corrupt lackey of an attorney general, Robert (‘I’m your Roy Cohn’) Barr, Stone will not be spending a single day in jail for his crimes against his country and the integrity of its democratic system.
Trump and Stone and have been partners in whatever for many years before that ill-fated ride down the Trump Tower escalator in 2015
You would probably spend more time in jail in America if you were caught going through a stop sign with an expired driver’s licence. And if you were black or brown, it might get you summarily shot and killed.
So much for equal and fair justice under the land in Trump’s America.
Trump has turned every institution of governance in the United States into a grotesque joke.
That is bad news enough if you are an American citizen. Could imagine being a Canadian or a citizen of some other country and being pulled over by police there for even a minor infraction?
If said it before and I will say it again, keep those border crossings between Canada and the U.S. closed. And if Trump gets re-elected, keep them closed! If he’s still what some have taken to calling “the super spreader in chief” next year at that time, I am sure I am far from the only Canadian who won’t be going over there.
And here is just one of many kickers around this latest in a countless series of disgraceful episodes.
In a statement issued this July 10th by the Trump White House, one of the reasons given for wanting to keep poor, persecuted Roger out of prison is that it is dangerous in enclosed places like that with all of those COVID-19 germs spreading around.
Yet, this same super spreader-in-chief just recently turned the world of science upside down with his edict that COVID-19 is “completely harmless” for 99 per cent of the people who test positive for it. More egregious than that, Trump has also recently threatened to cut federal funding to U.S. states that don’t open their schools to children when the 2020-21 academic year begins weeks from now.
Apparently it’s okay to risk having more children test positive and become carriers for this killer virus, thus putting the health of the adults in their lives in peril, but we sure wouldn’t want to see Roger Stone get sick.
Trump might need him working in the White House as his next chief of staff if, this November, he should happen to get re-elected, or if he simply chooses to mobilize the army and refuse to leave.
Pardon me if I am repeating myself, but did I say keep the damn border crossings closed?!!!

To bring up Roy Cohn is so appropriate.
The HBO documentary on Cohn, “Bully, Coward, Victim”, is shocking. In the new book by Trump’s niece, it has has been reported she has said the reviled Cohn (who was Trump’s mentor) got Trump’s sister her position as a judge in New Jersey (via Ronnie Reagan).
Trump was in the process of opening his failed casinos and he needed a “consigliere” in the state to get things done through the “non existent” (LOL) organized crime bosses.
The documentary also revealed that the cement to build Trump Tower was provided at bargain basement cost through the auspices of “Fat Tony Salerno” who was sentenced to 100 years for racketeering.
Incidentally, the Teller Building which was demolished to build Trump Tower was demolished by a Polish crew…also dirt cheap…so Trump was sued by the NYS Demolition Workers Union….and they won.
We now have the cult of Don the “Don” running the most powerful nation on earth. If people aren’t frightened, they should be. Cohn taught him every trick in the book. His methods are identical.
Every one of Trump’s lackeys gets a “get out of jail free” pass except Michael Cohen who actually had the guts to turn evidence and tell the truth.
Your comment about Trump’s fear of Stone getting Covid totally contradicts his claim that 99% of cases are harmless. Wow, a contradiction in Trump’s logic? Tell me it ain’t so!
Every day we awaken to another shit show. The only good news today is that Tucker Carlson has been booted off FOX. My genuine fear is that cancers like Trump metastasize and we are right next door! Particularly considering the hate and false propaganda being spread on social media, what might be in store for us?
